\nBe Prepared.
\nThe destruction of a hurricane can devastate a community. Being prepared for a destructive storm is critical.<\/p>\n
It’s never too early to get prepared for a hurricane. Official IHPA Partner Global Weather Oscillations predicts we will see six named storms this season make US landfall. GWO predicts four of these storms will be hurricanes. This prediction shows the 2017-2018 storm season being the most dangerous season since 2005.<\/p>\n
It’s a great idea to create a storm preparedness kit before a storm is on the radar. If you wait until the last minute, trips to the store in the days before a hurricane can be frustrating with lack of supplies and general chaos.<\/p>\n
Here’s a short list of suggested supplies to help prepare you in the event of a hurricane:<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Batteries
\n\u00b7 Drinking water (72 hour supply PER person)
\n\u00b7 First aid kit
\n\u00b7 Flash lights
\n\u00b7 Map of shelters in the area in case of evacuations
\n\u00b7 Non-electric can opener
\n\u00b7 Non-perishable foods (72 hour supply PER person)
\n\u00b7 Non-prescription and a supply of prescription drugs
\n\u00b7 One complete change of clothing per person
\n\u00b7 Paper cups, plates and plastic utensils
\n\u00b7 Water for sanitation use
\n\u00b7 Non-electric entertainment (board games, books)<\/p>\n
